Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy

A supportive space where your brain is welcomed just as it is

At Acceptance, we know that therapy hasn’t always been made with Neurodivergent folks in mind. That’s why we offer neurodiversity-affirming care — an approach that respects your experiences, challenges outdated systems, and centres your needs.

What Is Neurodiversity?

Neurodiversity simply means that there are natural differences in how all of our brains work. Every person is neurodiverse. But not everyone is Neurodivergent.

Neurodivergent people — including those with ADHD, Autism, OCD, learning disabilities, and more — often face marginalization and pathologization for how they experience the world. That marginalization, not the neurotype itself, is what often leads to distress, isolation, and burnout.

Our therapy doesn’t try to “fix” who you are. Instead, it adapts to meet you where you are — with compassion, flexibility, and deep respect.

What Does Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapy Look Like?

Here’s what you can expect from our care:

  • Therapy that doesn’t pathologize: Your brain isn’t a problem to solve. We see your strengths, and we support your challenges without judgement.

  • Support for unmasking: You don’t have to hide parts of yourself here. We support safe unmasking and honour your comfort level every step of the way.

  • Accessible approaches: We adjust therapy to meet your sensory, emotional, and communication needs — whatever they look like.

  • Your pace, your voice: We understand that therapy designed for Neurotypical folks doesn’t always work for everyone. We listen, adapt, and centre your internal experience.

  • Collaborative care: You’re the expert on your life. We work with you, not on you.

Why Choose the Acceptance Clinic?

Lived experience

Many of our therapists are Neurodivergent themselves. We bring both clinical understanding and lived insight — but we also know that what works for one person won’t work for everyone. That’s why we’ll co-create a care plan that’s unique to you.

Empowering and inclusive

We’ll advocate for your needs if that’s something you’re looking for. We can also work with you to build self-advocacy tools that feel safe and doable in the real world.

You don’t have to explain yourself here

We understand that navigating the world can be exhausting. This is your space to drop the mask, share what you’re ready to share, and get support that feels good for your nervous system.
